As of April 1, 2025, it’s official — Vocality Community Credit Union (VCCU) has now legally merged into Community First Credit Union (CFCU)!
We’re thrilled to move forward together into this exciting new chapter, bringing you enhanced Digital Banking tools, expanded branch access, and an even wider range of financial services and resources.
Transition Webpage
To make this process as smooth as possible for you, CFCU has created a dedicated Merger Transition Webpage on their website (comfirstcu.org) where you can find everything you need to know — all in one place.
You’ll find:
- A full timeline of key dates
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Details on what’s changing (and what’s staying the same)
- Step-by-step guidance for Digital Banking
We encourage you to bookmark it and check back often for the latest updates!
What This Means for VCCU Members | April 1 2025
- Business as usual: You can continue using your existing VCCU account numbers, debit/credit cards, checks, and online banking without any changes at this time.
- Direct deposits, transfers and payments: These will continue to process normally.
- Member service: You’ll still contact VCCU the same way you always have, including new, extended hours from 9a – 5p, Mon – Fri, at the Garberville branch.
- Branding changes: You’ll start to notice CFCU’s name and logo appearing on materials and signage over the coming weeks.
What's Next for VCCU Members? A Quick Look Ahead
May 2025: Preparing for the Transition
- You’ll receive your new CFCU account number(s) — a prefix will be added to your existing number.
- We’ll send you updated disclosures with details on your CFCU member benefits and account terms.
- On Friday, May 30, VCCU online and mobile banking will be ending in preparation for CFCU Digital Banking to take over on June 1. This includes online Bill Pay so please make note of your payees as they will need to be newly set up in CFCU Digital Banking.
June 1 2025: System Conversion Day
- Account #: Your new CFCU account # will go into effect as it officially transitions to CFCU systems.
- Direct deposits: These will seamlessly redirect to your new CFCU account — but we encourage you to update your account info with your employer and other payors.
- Payments and transfers: Any existing automatic withdrawals / payments you’ve scheduled with other companies will continue to process without interruption. For example, if you’ve set up an automated payment to PG&E for your monthly utility bill (using their website), those payments will continue to be directed to your new CFCU account. Note that this is different than bills you pay using VCCU online banking Bill Pay.
- VCCU online banking Bill Pay: Any bills / payments you have scheduled using VCCU’s online banking Bill Pay system will need to be re-established at this time. You will want to make note of your payees prior to June 1, since those payees will need to be newly set up.
- Debit / credit cards and checks: These will not change and will continue to work, but you’ll also have the option to order CFCU-branded checks.
- New Digital Banking / Bill Pay: It’s time to register for CFCU’s enhanced Digital Banking platform. This includes the new online Bill Pay.
- Website: VCCU’s website will retire and will redirect to CFCU’s website.
- Branches & Member Service: You will begin contacting CFCU directly for all member service including expanded Contact Center hours and access to all 12 CFCU branch locations!
