For our new members from VCCU
We have exciting news to share!
We are thrilled to announce that the proposed merger between Vocality Community Credit Union (VCCU) and Community First Credit Union (CFCU) has been approved by the VCCU membership. The VCCU membership vote concluded on March 12, 2025, with members voting overwhelmingly in favor of this exciting new chapter for our credit union.
This merger brings together two highly respected local community financial cooperatives, allowing us to provide you with an enhanced digital banking experience, an expanded branch network, and access to additional premier financial products and services. We are better together!
To help you prepare for the upcoming transition, below is a high-level roadmap of some key dates to keep in mind.
Important Upcoming Dates
April 1, 2025: Official Legal Merger Date
- VCCU will officially become part of Community First Credit Union (CFCU)!
- Business as usual for VCCU members: There is no impact to you on this date. You will continue to bank as usual, including online banking, branch services, and contact center support.
- Account #: Your current VCCU account number(s) will remain the same until June 1. You can continue to use it to make electronic payments to any payees per usual.
- Cards and Checks: Your VCCU debit and credit cards will NOT be changing at this time. Neither are your VCCU checks. You can continue to use them as usual.
- Direct Deposit: Any direct deposits you currently have set up (e.g. your paycheck) will continue to process normally.
- Member Service: You will continue contacting VCCU using the same phone numbers and channels you’re accustomed to. This includes extended hours at the Garberville branch from 9a -5p, Mon-Fri.
- CFCU branding: You will start to see the CFCU name and logo gradually replace VCCU branding on printed materials and signage at our branches.
May 2025: Getting Ready for the Transition
- Preparation: The month of May will be all about getting ready for the system conversion of accounts to CFCU on June 1.
- New CFCU Account Number(s): In May, you will receive new CFCU account numbers that will replace your current VCCU numbers, effective June 1, 2025. Note: To maintain familiarity, a prefix will be added to your existing account number when it migrates to CFCU’s systems.
- New Disclosures: As part of your transition to CFCU, you will receive a new set of disclosures outlining your CFCU member benefits and account terms.
June 1, 2025: System Conversion Day
- System Integration: All VCCU systems and member accounts will be transitioned to CFCU.
- CFCU Account #: Your new CFCU account number(s) will go into effect. Note: Any existing automatic withdrawals / payments you’ve scheduled with other companies will continue to process without interruption.
For example, if you’ve set up an automated payment to PG&E for your monthly utility bill (using their website), those payments will continue to be directed to your new CFCU account. Note that this is different than bills you pay using VCCU online banking Bill Pay.
- VCCU online banking Bill Pay: Any bills / payments you have scheduled using VCCU’s online banking Bill Pay system will need to be re-established at this time. You will want to make note of your payees prior to June 1, since those payees will need to be newly set up in your new CFCU Digital Banking.
- Cards and Checks: Your VCCU debit and credit cards will NOT be changing at this time. Neither will your VCCU checks. You can continue to use them as usual. You can also order new CFCU checks.
- Direct Deposit: Any direct deposits you currently have set up (e.g. your paycheck) will continue to process normally. We will direct your deposits to your new CFCU account. However, we do encourage you to update your direct deposit information with your new CFCU account information, so your payors (e.g. your employer) have the most up to date information for sending your deposits.
- Website & Digital Banking: The VCCU website will be discontinued and redirect to CFCU’s website. VCCU online banking will also no longer be available. You will need to register for CFCU’s enhanced Digital Banking platform, including online Bill Pay.
- Member Service: You will begin contacting CFCU directly for all member service and support.
Action Required: Updating Contact Information
Please ensure we have your most current contact information including mailing address, email, and phone number. We will be sending you important information over the next few months. Also, some systems will require you to receive validation through these channels. For example, to ensure a smooth transition to CFCU’s enhanced Digital Banking platform, it’s important that we have your current e-mail address on file. You can update your contact information at any time within VCCU online banking, with our member service call center team, or at your local VCCU branch.
Our Commitment to You
We are committed to making this transition as smooth and seamless as possible for you. You will continue to receive additional timely communications over the coming months, ensuring you are well-informed and prepared for the transition of your accounts.
Thank you for your continued trust and loyalty. We are very excited about the future and look forward to serving you as part of Community First Credit Union!
